By 10 a.m. this morning I not only tried out my new Get Ripped! to the Core DVD, but had some delicious left-over sushi for breakfast, had a nice soak in an Epsom salty bath, drank my repulsive-textured Greens plus Multi plus vitamin concoction and wrote a submitted a review of the DVD to Amazon.ca.   It’s not clear if I’m allowed to post it here, too, so you’ll just have to read it on the product page if/when it shows up.  The brief synopsis is that it’s good but Jari Love’s bangs are distracting so I only gave it 4 stars.

While getting ripped to the core I noticed that I now love the burn to the point that I might be a burn junkie: when I wasn’t feeling it, I’d switch to the harder version of the exercise.  Masochists R Us.

Related to my delicious but unconventional tuna sashimi breakfast, my brother sent me a link to a band he claims are better than Lily Allen: the Duloks.  I still prefer Lily, but their Bad Vegetarian song is super fantastic.  A snippet of the lyrics:

“I saw you eat da phish!  You are a bad vegetarian!”

I am indeed a bad vegetarian, because da phish is an easy, delicious source of protein.  Also superfantastic: this video of Ethan Winer playing 37 separate cello tracks (including percussion on a cello), layered over each other to create a Cello Rondo.

When I was little my parents had a plaque hanging on their bathroom wall that said:

There ought to be a better way
to start the day
than by getting up in the morning

I tend to agree. I don’t mind waking up early but I’m not quite a morning person. The quiet’s nice, sunrises are generally gorgeous and there’s a little thrill in knowing fewer people see them than see sunsets. But I’m not so much a get-up-and-get-productive person. I’m not quite as bad as Beth but I know where she’s coming from. So you would think that rising just before 5 a.m. and being out of the apartment 15 minutes later would not be my cup of tea at all. Sexy Back

I ought to be in bed, but tomorrow morning boot camp doesn’t start until 6 am, thanks to the long weekend. So I’ve been putting together a mix CD to bring in to be played at Boot Camp.

I’m currently addicted to Justin Timberlake’s Sexy Back. It was playing yesterday as I drove out to Burnaby to try on wedding dresses, and the front runner halter-necklined dress shows off my shoulders (already starting to look decent) and upper back (fine but unexceptional). I’d like by the end of December to be able to do at least one pull up (aka chin up), which would likely have the side benefit of making my back look awesome. Continue reading
